Children, youth and families have a very special place in our church family at MECC.
We offer a variety of opportunities to build friendships with one another as we continue in our journey knowing God.
Please see below where you can fit in – there is a place for everyone!
Sundays: During our Sunday morning services, we offer a few options for children:
The first option is the nursery which is staffed with volunteers to look after children if parents wish to take in the service. However, the space can also be utilized by parents with infants with a dedicated for private care. The service is streamed through speakers within the room.
The second option is Jr. Church. This is for children in the ages of 3 - 8. During the service the children are dismissed to go take in a time of Bible learning and activity that is appropriate to their ages.
Thirdly, we offer Sunday School for all ages after the worship service is done. We have been working through the Gospel Project curriculum which gives a similar lesson to each age. This is so that the whole family can talk about what they learned at Sunday School because it is all the same content!
Family Events: Throughout the year, there are many opportunities to do activities together as families! Whether it’s a ball game, curling, swimming, or a potluck and games, these nights are always fun.
Tweens: For kids in Grades 5 & 6 there is a weekly Bible study that meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Every evening includes a fun game to begin the night, an understandable Bible lesson, a bit of time for small groups for furthering friendships and deeper understanding of the lesson, and a delicious snack! Our first night will be Wednesday, October 14, 2026. On occasion, there is a Tweens Friday night event. During this evening we engage a large group of energetic kids in some games, activities, and food! Our first Friday night Tweens event is October 9, 2026. You can contact the church for more information closer to the date.
Youth Group: This is our activities geared to students in Grade 7 – 12. We meet weekly at the church on Mondays for Bible study from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. The evening is focused on a deep dive into Scripture and how what the Bible says applies to our lives today. There is also time for small groups and games afterwards. We prioritize discipleship and relationship in our youth group and all youth in Melfort and surrounding area are welcomed to join us! In addition to Bible studies, we host a Monday night event that will run from 7:00 - 10:00 PM. These events vary in purpose but offer great opportunities for engagement and activity. We are looking forward to events that will be focused on serving our community and others that will involve the parents! Those dates can be found on our church calendar and events page, which are both accessible on this website. Our first youth gathering is on Monday, September 14 at MECC.
